Screening
Considering cancer screening is one of the major components of cancer control, we have taken a few steps in this field.
Suchona
We piloted our community-based cancer screening and healthcare project named “Suchona” at Rayerbazar, Dhaka from January 2021 to December 2021. “Suchona” offered cancer education, cancer screening for breast and cervix cancer as per government guidelines and primary health care services on OPD basis. During this time frame, we served 175 patients in our OPD and 673 people reached by our community health worker with the message of cancer screening and education. We did clinical breast examination on 37 cases and didn’t get any positive cases of breast cancer. We referred 66 cases to Marie stopes center, Bashbari branch for VIA and only 17 cases reported us back and all of them were negative.
Vaccination
Vaccination is one of the key components of cervical and hepatocellular cancer prevention. Cancer Awareness Foundation has the vaccination program in “Cancer Protirodh & Sheba Kendro”.
