Cancer Awareness Foundation of Bangladesh brought forth the “1st National Cancer Volunteer Summit” on 17th of February 2023, where over 150 participants from different medical colleges from all over the country attended and enriched their minds. One of the largest medical student forums of the country Bangladesh Medical Students’ Society (BMSS) was the youth engagement partner of the summit. The summit held a vast gathering of public health experts, physicians, researchers and social activists. It was comprised of 7 exclusive sessions on cancer control, prevention and volunteering, conducted by eminent mentors of the country. Furthermore, real life story of a cancer survivor was also shared by the cancer survivor herself on the summit. Along with the gracious presence of two living legends of Bangladesh, Professor Dr M.A.Hai and Professor Dr Latifa Shamsuddin as the chief guest, the event was also honoured by having respected personnel of this field. Apart from this, numerous question answer sessions, brainstorming workshop, icebreaking sessions, practicing warm-up exercises on spot for lifestyle modification and cultural activities made the summit highly interactive with a message on “Close the Care Gap”, the slogan for The World Cancer Day 2023 highlighting the significant role ‘Cancer Volunteering’ can play in closing the care gap.
